A record of what local government did, with the receipts attached.
Chino Valley Today covers the meetings that decide things in Chino and Chino Hills — the two city councils, the CVUSD Board of Education, and the commissions that rule on development. It is built for two readers at once: someone who cannot sit through a three-hour weeknight meeting, and someone who needs to check exactly what was decided.
Every claim carries its source
The first editorial rule is the shortest one: no source, no claim. Each entry links to the primary record it came from — an agenda item, a staff report page, a video timestamp, a state licence report, an agency alert. Theviolet stamps throughout this site mark those sourced claims, and every one is a link you can follow. Violet means a primary record and nothing else: reporting from other outlets is linked in outline blue and labelled as attribution, so the two are never mistaken for each other.
This is a record of the record. It reports what a public body did. It does not characterise motives, tone, or sides beyond what was actually said on the record.
What is checked before anything publishes
Entries are assembled from public documents and then routed by how much judgment they need.
- Tier A is rendered directly from structured data with no language model involved. A template that quotes verbatim and links out cannot invent anything.
- Tier B is written from the source documents and must pass two independent checks before it can publish: an automated pass that verifies every paragraph carries a citation, that every number and date appears in the source material, and that every proper name is one the sources actually used — and then a second review by a different model, which can only hold a post, never clear one another check has flagged.
- Tier C is never automated. Anything naming a private individual, anything involving a minor, and anything touching allegations is held for a person to read and clear by hand.
Anything that fails any check is held rather than published. A missed week costs little; a wrong entry naming a resident costs trust that does not come back.
Corrections
Corrections are visible. A corrected entry keeps the original text struck through with a dated note attached — never a silent edit.
To report an error, email [email protected]. Quote the entry and, where you can, point to the record that shows what the correct version is — the same standard this site holds itself to. A correction to a Tier B entry also counts against the checks that let it through, and two in a rolling month stop that kind of entry publishing automatically until they are tightened.
Where the material comes from
Sources are the agencies' own: council and board agenda systems, meeting video and its captions, state licence reports, and agency-operated notification channels ingested the way those channels intend to be read. Other publications are linked with short summaries for attribution, never substantially excerpted. Social platforms are not used as sources.
